Common modified plastics and their modification methods

1. Toughening modification: In order to improve the impact resistance and toughness of plastics, some toughening agents are often added, such as acrylonitrile rubber (AN), ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR), ethylene-propylene copolymer (EVA), etc. However, when choosing a toughening agent, the compatibility with plastic materials should be considered.

Enhanced modification: adding a certain proportion of inorganic fillers, such as glass fiber, carbon fiber, talc, calcium carbonate, etc., to the plastic raw materials can improve the strength and rigidity of the plastic, and can also improve the temperature resistance and electrical properties. Reinforcement modification is often used in plastic products such as structural parts and supports, or in plastic raw materials with low rigidity such as PP.

3, flame retardant modification: one of the shortcomings of plastic raw materials, is easy to burn, by adding flame retardants in plastics, such as bromine flame retardants, phosphorus flame retardants, etc., in order to improve the flame retardant properties of materials, improve the safety of products, is the most common way of modified processing. In daily life, for electronic, electrical, part and electrical contact connectors such as junction boxes, plug lines, etc., need flame retardant plastic particles.

4. Antioxidants and UV stabilizers: Plastics are prone to degradation in environments such as light and heat, not only the color will turn yellow, but the performance will gradually decrease, which is collectively called aging phenomenon. In order to improve the aging resistance of plastics, antioxidants and ultraviolet stabilizers can be added to increase the service life of plastic parts.

5, plastic alloy: refers to the blending of two or more plastic raw materials, and add a suitable compatibilizer, so that the finished plastic alloy has the advantages of two materials, improve the shortcomings of a single material.
